A partir de hoje sai a bandeira vermelha e entra a bandeira amarela. Com isso  o bolso do consumidor de energia fica um pouco mais aliviado, já que, o acréscimo a cada 100 quilowatts-hora (kWh) consumidos passa de R$ 3 para R$ 1,50.

Desde janeiro de 2015, as faturas de energia elétrica sinalizam ao consumidor quando o fornecimento é mais caro e, desde então, essa é a primeira vez que a bandeira deixa de ser vermelha. A sinalização adotada utiliza três cores: vermelha, quando o acréscimo é de R$ 3,00 a cada 100 kWh na primeira faixa, e de R$ 4,50 na segunda; amarela, que acrescenta R$ 1,50; e verde, que indica a ausência da cobrança extra.

Com a melhora no cenário de energia elétrica, em crise desde o início de 2015, as tarifas praticadas no ambiente regulado e livre podem sofrer alterações significativas. Com a explosão tarifária identificada no final de 2015 e no início deste ano, o ambiente livre de energia identificou alta migração de consumidores em busca de previsibilidade de custos e preços mais baixos.

Em fevereiro deste ano, o ministro Eduardo Braga anunciou que, a partir de 1º de abril, as contas de luz de todo o País trarão a bandeira verde, o que significa que a cobrança extra pelo uso de energia termelétrica vai acabar. Com isso, os consumidores terão uma redução média de 6% a 6,5% na conta de luz, disse o diretor-geral da Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (Aneel), Romeu Rufino.

O aumento de chuvas em 2015 melhorou o volume dos reservatórios das hidrelétricas e o governo decidiu desligar mais 15 usinas térmicas no início deste mês. Sem esses empreendimentos, será possível poupar cerca de R$ 8 bilhões por ano, já que a energia gerada pelas usinas térmicas é mais cara.
