Incêndio já atingiu quase 15% do Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros

O incêndio que atinge o Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros, em Goiás, desde o dia 17 já queimou 35 mil hectares, o que corresponde a 14,6% da área da unidade de conservação. É o pior incêndio no local desde que o parque foi ampliado, em julho deste ano.

De acordo com o Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), 200 pessoas trabalham para conter as chamas, que provocaram o fechamento do parque.

A prefeitura de Alto Paraíso de Goiás, município localizado na Chapada dos Veadeiros, decretou situação de emergência em função do agravamento dos incêndios na região.

Além de brigadistas do ICMBio, do próprio parque e de outras unidades de conservação no país, estão envolvidos no combate ao fogo funcionários do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (Ibama), o Grupo Ambientalista do Torto (GAT), a Polícia Rodoviária Federal, a prefeitura de Alto Paraíso, bombeiros de Goiás e do Distrito Federal e centenas de voluntários, que estão em campo ou prestando apoio logístico aos trabalhos. Quatro aviões que lançam água sobre as chamas e três helicópteros estão sendo usados na operação.

O ICMBio informou que as áreas mais afetadas, neste período de seca, são as de galeria e veredas, que, quando atingidas pelo fogo, costumam causar grande mortalidade de fauna e flora.

Animais

O Zoológico de Brasília enviou hoje à Chapada dos Veadeiros uma equipe com dois veterinários, um biólogo e um auxiliar técnico para dar apoio no socorro aos animais feridos no incêndio. O grupo vai trabalhar junto com organizações não governamentais (ONGs) que já estão na região.

De acordo com o governo de Brasília, também foram enviados medicamentos, kits cirúrgicos e equipamentos. Ainda não há estimativa de quantos animais precisam de socorro. Neste momento, segundo o diretor-presidente do Zoológico de Brasília, Gerson de Oliveira Norberto, a prioridade será buscar animais nos locais em que o fogo já foi controlado e tratar intoxicações e queimaduras.
