O corpo do poeta Ferreira Gullar, morto ontem (4), aos 86 anos, está sendo velado desde as 11h de hoje (5), na sede da Academia Brasileira de Letras (ABL), instituição da qual era membro há dois anos. Antes de chegar à ABL, o corpo do poeta maranhense foi velado na Biblioteca Nacional desde a tarde de ontem.
A previsão é que Gullar seja sepultado no Mausoléu da ABL, no Cemitério São João Batista, em Botafogo, na zona sul do Rio, às 16h de hoje. Segundo o presidente da ABL, Domício Proença Filho, Ferreira Gullar era um dos maiores poetas da língua portuguesa.
“Ele faz parte daqueles poetas cuja obra marca a poesia do Brasil. Ele é da estirpe de João Cabral de Mello Neto, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, [Manuel] Bandeira. E era a voz mais representativa da nossa poesia contemporânea. Além de ser uma pessoa múltipla, artisticamente falando”, afirmou.
O cantor e compositor cearense Raimundo Fagner, que teve Gullar como parceiro em composições como Borbulhas de Amor e Traduzir-se, disse que ele “vinha com uma multidão de ideias. Era um poeta múltiplo, que sabia todos os caminhos”. A também cantora e compositora Adriana Calcanhoto destacou o lado humano de Gullar. “Era um homem incrível, muito livre, que não tinha medo de mudar de ideia, que não tinha essa preocupação falsa com coerência.”
O ministro da Defesa, Raul Jungmann, que esteve no velório na Biblioteca Nacional e também foi às homenagens na ABL, contou que é admirador de Gullar desde os 17 anos e que essa admiração só cresceu depois que se conheceram pessoalmente. “É uma perda porque é uma pessoa belíssima, mas vai perdurar em uma obra que nos enriquece como povo e nação”, disse. “A grande poesia fica com você para sempre, passa a fazer parte do seu repertório, da sua visão de mundo.”
O ministro da Cultura, Roberto Freire, lembrou que Gullar trabalhou em sua campanha política em 1989, quando se candidatou à Presidência da República pelo PCB. Freire disse que tinha vontade de trazer o poeta para trabalhar em sua pasta. “Ele não era um intelectual recolhido, era um intelectual de luta.”
“É uma grande perda, na semana em que já tínhamos tido a tragédia da Chapecoense. O Brasil teve uma semana de grandes perdas e luto geral”, afirmou o ministro da Cultura.
O ministro das Relações Exteriores, José Serra, esteve no velório no início da tarde de hoje e lembrou de sua relação com Gullar quando estiveram exilados no Chile.
“Ele foi praticamente preso no meu lugar. Eu tinha morado em um apartamento no Chile e tinha mudado de endereço, e ele foi para o apartamento. No dia do golpe, vieram me prender, mas ele estava lá. Como ele também se chama José, foi a maior confusão”, conta Serra.
O chanceler afirmou que Gullar fará muita falta por sua lucidez. “Sempre teve um compromisso com a democracia, contra a desigualdade e pelo progresso do nosso país”, destacou.
