Com o recuo de 2% no volume de vendas de novembro para dezembro do ano passado, o comércio varejista do país fechou 2016 com queda acumulada de 6,2%. Este é o pior resultado do comércio varejista do país desde o início da série histórica, em 2001. No ano passado, o setor teve resultado negativo de 4,3%.
Os dados fazem parte da Pesquisa Mensal do Comércio (PMC) que foram divulgados hoje (14) pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) com os números do fechamento do ano passado.
A queda de 2% no volume de vendas do comércio varejista, na série livre de influências sazonais, ocorreu após o setor ter fechado novembro com alta de 1%. Em relação a dezembro de 2015, as vendas do setor fecharam com queda de 4,9%.
A variação da receita nominal do comércio varejista também fechou dezembro com queda de 2,1%, embora tenha fechado positivo tanto no resultado acumulado do ano (4,5%), como na comparação com dezembro do ano passado, que foi de 2%.
No comércio varejista ampliado, que agrega também atividades de veículos, motos, partes e peças e de material de construção, os resultados foram negativos: -0,1% em relação a novembro; -6,7% comparativamente a dezembro de 2015; e -8,7% no acumulado dos doze meses de 2016.
Do ponto de vista das receitas nominais do setor, o varejo ampliado fechou com queda de receita de 0,3% de novembro para dezembro; de 1,2% comparativamente a dezembro de 2015 e de 0,7% no acumulado dos 12 meses de 2016.
Queda no varejo em 2016 teve perfil generalizado
A queda de 6,2% no volume de vendas do comércio varejista do país no ano passado, a maior da série histórica e superando a de 2015 que havia sido de 4,3% – a maior até então – teve perfil generalizado e atingiu as oito atividades que compõem o varejo, seis das quais registrando as quedas mais acentuadas de suas séries históricas.
O fraco desempenho do setor em 2016 teve como principal destaque o recuo de 3,1% do setor de hipermercados, supermercados, produtos alimentícios, bebidas e fumo, que registrou o seu pior desempenho desde os 4,8% de 2003. O setor exerceu a maior influência negativa na redução do total do varejo.
Segundo o IBGE, “a perda da renda real e o aumento de preços dos alimentos em domicílio, no mesmo período, foram os principais responsáveis pelo desempenho negativo do setor”.
Também se destacaram, móveis e eletrodomésticos (-12,6%); outros artigos de uso pessoal e doméstico (-9,5%); combustíveis e lubrificantes (-9,2%); tecidos, vestuário e calçados (-10,9%); artigos farmacêuticos, médicos, ortopédicos, de perfumaria e cosméticos (-2,1%); equipamentos e material de escritório, informática e comunicação (-12,3%) e livros, jornais, revistas e papelaria (-16,1%).
Outro setor com destaque negativo foi o de móveis e eletrodomésticos, que registrou recuo de 12,6%, menos acentuado do que no fechamento de 2015 (-14,1%), ainda assim contribuindo com o segundo maior impacto negativo na taxa anual do comércio varejista.
“Com uma dinâmica de vendas associada à disponibilidade de crédito e a evolução dos rendimentos, o resultado do setor, abaixo da média geral, foi influenciado principalmente pela elevação da taxa de juros nas operações de crédito às pessoas físicas e pela queda da massa real de rendimentos”, avaliaram economistas do IBGE.
Já o setor de combustíveis e lubrificantes, com queda de 9,2%, representou a quarta maior contribuição negativa no resultado anual do varejo. “Esse resultado, abaixo da média geral, foi influenciado pela já citada redução da massa real, além do impacto devido ao recuo do ritmo da atividade econômica”, disse o Instituto.
Apesar do caráter essencial de uso, artigos farmacêuticos, médicos, ortopédicos, de perfumaria e cosméticos, ao recuar 2,1% em 2016, teve o primeiro recuo da série histórica, iniciada em 2004.
Comércio Varejista Ampliado
Os dados do IBGE indicam que, ao fechar o ano passado com queda acumulada de 8,7% frente a 2015, o comércio varejista ampliado registrou a queda mais acentuada da série histórica. Na avaliação dos economistas do instituto, o resultado do comércio varejista ampliado reflete o comportamento das vendas de veículos, motos, partes e peças, que chegaram a cair 14% no ano passado e, ainda, do setor de material de construção, com queda de 10,7% sobre 2015.
As duas atividades são as que compõem o comércio varejista ampliado. Para o IBGE, os fatores que justificam este desempenho foram “a diminuição do ritmo de financiamentos, a elevação da taxa de juros e a restrição orçamentária das famílias”.
