No dia sete de julho a Prefeitura de Vila Velha divulga o primeiro resultado do teste de balneabilidade de 14 praias e lagoas do município. O teste não era feito há mais de um ano. Durante todo esse tempo a população banhou-se nas águas de Vila Velha por sua conta e risco, já que o teste de balneabilidade avalia a capacidade que uma praia ou lagoa tem de receber banhistas. A avaliação determina a quantidade de bactérias presentes na água. Depois de uma análise laboratorial detalhada as praias e lagoas são classificadas com próprias ou impróprias.
O teste será feito semanalmente e o resultado vai ficar exposto em placas na areia da praia e no site da prefeitura. A placa verde significa que as águas estão próprias para uso e a placa vermelha aponta que estão impróprias para o banho.
As praias consideradas impróprias serão interditadas se o órgão de controle ambiental constatar a baixa qualidade nas águas. A prefeitura aconselha os banhistas a não frequentarem após um período de chuvas intensas, pois as condições de balneabilidade podem estar alteradas.

Os locais onde ocorrerá análise são: Lagoa Grande, na Av. Espírito Santo; Lagoa Morada do Sol, em frente à Rua Gerânios; Praia do Barrão, na Av. Anderssem Fidalgo Pereira; Praia dos Recifes, em frente à Rua Mar Azul; Praia de Ponta da Fruta I, em frente à pracinha da Av. Judith Góes Coutinho; Praia de Ponta da Fruta II, em frente à Rua da Bomba; Praia da Barrinha – Próximo à foz do Rio Jucu; Praia de Itaparica I, em frente à Rua Itaiabaia; Praia de Itaparica II, na Colônia de Pescadores; Praia de Itapuã, em frente à Rua Jair de Andrade; Praia da Costa I, em frente a Av. Champagnat; Praia da Costa II (Praia da Sereia); Praia do Ribeiro, em frente à Rua Santa Berenice; Prainha (meio da Prainha).
