Sonhar é uma coisa fantástica, no real sentido da palavra. De repente, de olhos fechados e sem consciência, você vive histórias que beiram o absurdo, sejam assustadoras ou felizes. É por isso que tem quem afirme que sonhar é uma espécie de brincadeira criativa do nosso cérebro, que não descansa nem quando estamos dormindo.
Zoólogos já confirmaram que todos os mamíferos têm sonhos como uma manifestação da parte lúdica do cérebro, em uma região responsável por criar coisas, com a vantagem de não ter pensamentos criativos censurados pela mente vigilante de quando estamos acordados. Nesse ponto, tanto pessoas quanto animais têm criatividade e liberdade instintiva como base para brincadeiras – e parece que o sonho é uma delas.
Quando sonhamos, nossa imaginação fica totalmente livre. É na infância, porém, que os sonhos são mais intensos, frequentes e impactantes. Quando estamos na adolescência e na juventude, tendemos a ter sonhos que envolvam perseguição e voos, assim como é a época em que mais temos a experiência de, no meio de um sonho, saber que estamos sonhando.
Interconexão
O que sonhamos geralmente tem a ver com áreas da nossa vida que estão relacionadas a assuntos como sexualidade, senso de agressão, saúde, relações sociais e ameaças de morte. Ainda que nem todo sonho tenha conteúdo altamente bizarro, não se pode negar que cada um deles é uma grande representação criativa e lúdica, muitas vezes.
Enxergar sonhos como uma espécie de brincadeira da nossa mente é interessante e pode vir a ser muito produtivo, em termos científicos. Se não pensamos que crianças brincando em um parquinho estão com seus cérebros funcionando mal ou em modo “stand by”, também podemos pensar que nossos sonhos não são imagens aleatórias criadas por um cérebro em modo “piloto automático”.
Desse modo, podemos começar a ver nossos sonhos como um sinal de que a parte cognitiva do nosso cérebro está saudável. Em termos psicoterapêuticos, há profissionais que não buscam mais desvendar o lado oculto dos sonhos, mas sim identificar as representações emocionais do que habita a nossa mente enquanto dormimos – que fique claro que uma coisa não impede a outra.
Sonhar é bom!
Em pacientes que tiveram algum trauma e que vivem com estresse pós-traumático, é comum a ocorrência de pesadelos recorrentes. Durante o tratamento, no entanto, é frequente que esses pesadelos deixem de ser focados no trauma em si e passem a ser sobre outros temas, personagens e cenários. Para os psicólogos, quanto mais lúdicos se tornam os sonhos, mais progressos os pacientes estão fazendo.
Com todas essas observações, vale lembrar que a humanidade é bem-sucedida em termos evolutivos graças à nossa capacidade de adaptação, o que inclui, obviamente, a flexibilidade da nossa mente. Sonhar é um processo intrigante e poderoso, com capacidades neurológicas que influenciam a nossa formação psicológica.
