Depois de dez anos, Ação da Cidadania deve voltar com campanha Natal Sem Fome

A organização não governamental Ação da Cidadania planeja voltar a fazer, este ano, pela primeira vez em dez anos, a campanha Natal Sem Fome, devido à crise econômica que atinge o país. A ação, que arrecada e distribui alimentos para famílias pobres em 18 estados, foi realizada de 1993 a 2006.

Segundo o presidente do conselho da ONG, Daniel Souza, a campanha deixou de ser realizada há dez anos devido à avaliação da organização de que o governo vinha combatendo a fome e que, por isso, a ação não era mais necessária.

“O que a gente está percebendo agora, com essa crise que a gente está vivendo, que o Brasil está voltando para o Mapa da Fome (da FAO, a Organização das Nações Unidas para Agricultura e Alimentação). Então, a gente que há dez anos não arrecada alimentos, está olhando com grande tristeza para a perspectiva de ter que relançar o Natal Sem Fome”, disse Souza.

A Ação da Cidadania faz neste sábado (12) um evento para relembrar seu fundador, o sociólogo Herbert de Souza, o Betinho, que morreu há 20 anos. Além de promover oficinas e shows, a ONG está arrecadando hoje alimentos para famílias cadastradas e para servidores públicos estaduais do Rio de Janeiro, que estão com seus salários atrasados.
