BC lançará o quarto e último conjunto de moedas comemorativas dos Jogos Rio 2016

​O Banco Central lançará, no dia 19 de fevereiro, no Rio de Janeiro, o quarto conjunto de nove moedas comemorativas do programa numismático dos Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos Rio 2016: uma de ouro, quatro de prata e quatro de circulação comum. Esse lançamento encerra o programa dos Jogos, que contém, ao todo, 36 moedas.

A moeda de ouro homenageia o Cristo Redentor e a Tocha Olímpica, símbolo dos Jogos que percorre diversos países até chegar à cidade-sede, onde acende a pira, dando início às competições.

As moedas de prata homenageiam o Rio de Janeiro: os anversos, com paisagens conhecidas onde o carioca pratica esportes como remo, corrida, ciclismo e vôlei de praia; os reversos, com aspectos da cultura e da natureza da cidade e do Brasil. Borboleta-da-Praia, Pau-Brasil, Teatro Municipal e Samba encerram as quatro séries temáticas: Fauna, Flora, Arquitetura e Música Brasileira, respectivamente.

As moedas de circulação comum trazem dois dos esportes em que o Brasil conquistou mais medalhas em Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos – Boxe e Natação Paralímpica –, e apresentam as duas mascotes: Vinicius, a mascote Olímpica; e Tom, a Paralímpica.

As moedas de R$1 entrarão em circulação pela rede bancária e uma parte será vendida em embalagens especiais para coleção. Também será disponibilizada, para comercialização, cartela com um conjunto dessas quatro moedas de circulação comum.

Após o lançamento, as moedas poderão ser adquiridas no site do Banco do Brasil por meio de boleto bancário ou, no caso de correntistas do BB, débito em conta. As moedas também estarão à venda nas agências do Banco do Brasil relacionadas abaixo, onde o pagamento deve ser feito em dinheiro.

Todos os projetos foram desenvolvidos pelas equipes do Banco Central e da Casa da Moeda do Brasil, com o suporte técnico do Comitê Organizador dos Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos Rio 2016. As moedas são produzidas pela Casa da Moeda do Brasil.
