Os mortos na tragédia ocorrida na cidade colombiana de Mocoa, no Sul do país, chegou a 234. Os feridos somam 220, segundo o último relatório divulgado hoje (2) pela Cruz Vermelha Colombiana ao Canal Institucional. A informação é da agência de notícias EFE.
A cidade colombiana foi declarada em estado de calamidade para facilitar e agilizar as operações de resgate e de ajuda às vítimas, com um número indeterminado de desaparecidos e atingidos.
Não se descarta que o número de vítimas aumente, já que “há muita gente desaparecida”, de acordo com o presidente colombiano, Juan Manuel Santos, que visitou a região do desastre, um lodaçal com pedras gigantescas arrastadas pelos rios até o centro da cidade, de cerca de 45 mil habitantes.
“Toda a capacidade do Estado está voltada para apoiar o trabalho humanitário e de busca e resgate”, escreveu Santos em seu Twitter sobre a tragédia causada por um forte temporal, que começou na noite de sexta-feira (31) e que fez transbordar o Rio Mocoa e seus afluentes Sangoyaco e Mulatos.
A tragédia supera o mais recente desastre natural da Colômbia, o de outra avalanche que destruiu, em 18 de maio de 2015, a cidade de Salgar, no Departamento de Antioquia, deixando pelo menos 104 mortos.
