O sítio histórico do Queimado vai receber revitalização, que inclui iluminação, paisagismo, melhoria do acesso e restauração da igreja e do cemitério. A ideia é melhorar infraestrutura, serviços e equipamentos na região sem descaracterizar o ambiente, que tem grande valor histórico para o Estado e para o município da Serra.
Símbolo da resistência contra a escravidão dos negros, o sítio foi palco, em 19 de março de 1849, da Insurreição de São José do Queimado, por conta de uma promessa não concretizada de liberdade, feita pelo frei italiano Gregório José Maria de Bene aos escravos da localidade de São José do Queimado, de grande importância econômica na época, hoje distrito da Serra.
Atualmente as ruínas estão em risco de desabamento. Ficavam em área particular, tendo sido doada, no ano passado, ao município. Com a doação, a Prefeitura da Serra elaborou projeto de revitalização e a próxima etapa é de captação de recursos para início das obras. São cerca de R$ 3,7 milhões previstos para realização das intervenções.
O tema vem sendo discutido pela Prefeitura da Serra com os mais diversos segmentos: Fórum Chico Prego, Centro de Defesa de Direitos Humanos (CDDH), Conegro, Conselho Municipal de Cultura, Agentes Pastorais dos Negros, Religiões de Matrizes Africanas, Academia de Letras e Secult.
Nesta quinta-feira (17), a partir das 18h30, durante a sessão solene para comemorar os 167 anos da Insurreição de Queimado na Câmara Municipal da Serra, será entregue à presidente da Fundação Palmares, Cida Abreu, uma cópia do projeto de revitalização. “Será um importante passo para a captação de recursos, já que a Fundação faz a intermediação junto ao Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan)”, diz a vice-prefeita, Lourência Riani.
Ao longo desta semana, estão sendo realizadas diversas atividades para celebrar os 167 anos da Insurreição do Queimado. A programação começou na última sexta-feira (11) com a abertura de duas exposições de arte em Serra Sede, e acontecem até o próximo domingo (20), quando ocorre a Celebração Macro-Ecumênica nas ruínas do Sítio Histórico do Queimado.
