Eles estão atuando nas praias de  Bicanga, Carapebus, Jacaraípe, Manguinhos,  Nova Almeida e na lagoa de Carapebus.  Para ajudar o trabalho dos profissionais a prefeitura da Serra pede que os banhistas sigam algumas orientações de segurança:

– Na praia, prefira ficar próximo ao posto dos guarda-vidas. Pergunte a eles como são as condições do mar naquele local, se há correntes fortes, buracos ou pedras que possam oferecer riscos;

– Não se afaste da margem. Fique em um local onde a água atinja no máximo a linha da cintura. Siga o ditado: “água no umbigo, sinal de perigo”;

– Evite nadar nos pontos onde os rios deságuam, pois as correntes nestes locais costumam ser fortes;

– É preciso tomar cuidado especial com as crianças, para que elas não se percam ou corram risco de afogamento. Poucos segundos de distração são suficientes para que uma tragédia aconteça;

– Evite entrar na água após a ingestão de bebidas alcoólicas;

– Evite entrar no mar após refeições, pois existe o risco de sofrer fadiga ou algum mal súdito, o que dentro da água pode ser fatal;

– Evite se divertir no mar usando boias, câmaras de ar ou colchões infláveis. Existe o risco da pessoa se soltar deste tipo de objeto e se afogar. Várias ocorrências de afogamento começaram por causa do uso de boias;

– Muito cuidado ao tentar salvar uma vítima de afogamento caso você não tenha conhecimento técnico para isso. Caso presencie um afogamento, chame imediatamente pelo socorro e tente jogar objetos flutuantes em direção à vítima (pranchas, boias, bolas, pedaços de isopor ou mesmo uma garrafa pet vazia e fechada);

– Atenção para o horário de trabalho dos guarda-vidas nas praias da Serra. Eles atuam diariamente das 8 às 18 horas;

– Evite brincadeiras que possam provocar algum acidente dentro d’água;

– Evite a área de arrebentação de ondas;

– Evite entrar no mar sozinho e prefira nadar na direção paralela à praia. Não seja imprudente, mesmo quem sabe nadar pode sofrer afogamento, caso aconteça um mal súbito ou ocorra uma câimbra;

– Se perceber o mar muito agitado, evite entrar na água naquele momento;
