Este ano, o público estimado para receber a primeira dose da vacina contra HPV no Espírito Santo é de 28.088 meninas de 9 anos de idade e 63.617 meninos de 12 e 13 anos. Outras 61.247 meninas ainda não tomaram a segunda dose da vacina e fazem parte do público que precisa ser resgatado. Esses quantitativos juntos somam um público de 152.952 meninos e meninas a serem vacinados contra o HPV, no Estado, em 2017.
“Com relação ao público-feminino, a cobertura vacinal acumulada na dose um está em 104,9%, abrangendo um público de 9 a 14 anos de idade, enquanto a cobertura na dose dois está em 70,8%, o que mostra que nossos municípios vão ter que trabalhar principalmente o resgate das meninas que estão com a segunda dose pendente”, esclareceu a coordenadora do Programa Estadual de Imunizações, Danielle Grillo, acrescentando que meninas de 10 a 14 anos de idade que ainda não receberam a primeira dose também poderão ser vacinadas.
Para os meninos, a vacinação contra HPV entrou no calendário nacional este ano, portanto, todos ainda estão tomando a primeira dose da vacina. Segundo Danielle Grillo, assim como aconteceu com as meninas, a implantação da vacinação para o público masculino será gradativa. Neste ano, a primeira dose da vacina está disponível para meninos de 12 e 13 anos; em 2018, para a faixa de 11 e 12 anos; em 2019, para 10 e 11 anos; e em 2020 para as idades de 9 e 10 anos.
“Lembrando que em 2018 e nos anos seguintes poderá ser feito o resgate dos meninos que porventura não tomarem a primeira dose no ano anterior, ou seja, no tempo adequado. Assim, chegaremos em 2020 ofertando a primeira dose da vacina para meninos com idade entre 9 a 13 anos”, comentou a coordenadora do Programa Estadual de Imunizações.
Danielle comentou que a vacinação dos meninos, além de oferecer proteção direta para eles, representa aumento de proteção para as meninas não vacinadas. Isso porque o HPV é transmitido às mulheres pelos homens. Assim, se os meninos também tomam a vacina, a possibilidade de transmissão do vírus diminui. “A vacina protege os meninos contra câncer de pênis e de ânus, evita que as meninas desenvolvam câncer de colo de útero, câncer de vagina e de vulva, além de prevenir em ambos os sexos câncer de boca e de garganta e verrugas genitais”, detalha Danielle Grillo, enfatizando que a vacina apresenta 98% de eficácia para quem segue corretamente o esquema vacinal.
A coordenadora ressaltou que reduzir a cadeia de transmissão do HPV por meio da vacinação de meninos e meninas é uma medida que favorece a coletividade e que é muito importante para o futuro, pois quanto maior o número de pessoas de ambos os sexos imunizadas, menores são as chances de homens e mulheres contraírem HPV e adoecerem.
A partir deste ano, pessoas com câncer e transplantadas com idade entre 9 e 26 anos também passaram a ter direito à vacinação contra HPV pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Meninos e homens de 9 a 26 anos vivendo com HIV/Aids também foram beneficiados pela mudança no Calendário Nacional de Vacinação.
O HPV
A coordenadora do Programa Estadual de Imunizações explicou que o HPV é uma família de vírus que causa diversas doenças. Além do câncer de colo de útero, provoca câncer de vagina, vulva e ânus. Ela diz que existem mais de 150 tipos de papilomavírus humano e que a vacina oferecida na rede pública de saúde protege contra os quatro subtipos (6, 11, 16 e 18) responsáveis pela maior parte das doenças: dois causam 90% das verrugas genitais e os outros dois provocam cerca de 70% dos casos de câncer de colo do útero.
É comum muitos pais e responsáveis terem receio da vacina por vincularem a vacinação ao início da vida sexual dos filhos. Sobre isso, Danielle Grillo explicou que, na maioria das vezes, o papilomavírus humano é sexualmente transmissível e de fácil transmissão, por isso o ideal é que a vacina seja aplicada antes do início da vida sexual. Isso não significa, segundo ela, que haja um estímulo ao início precoce da vida sexual.
“Estudos desenvolvidos nos Estados Unidos mostram que o período em que as meninas imunizadas iniciam a vida sexual não é diferente do daquelas que não receberam a vacina. Além disso, outras pesquisas apontam que o melhor momento para administrar a vacina contra o HPV é na faixa etária de 09 a 14 anos. Isso porque nesta fase da vida a vacinação induz o corpo a produzir níveis muito mais altos de anticorpos do que a imunidade natural produzida pela infecção do papilomavírus humano”, argumentou.
É importante ressaltar que a vacinação é uma ferramenta de prevenção, mas não confere proteção contra outras doenças sexualmente transmissíveis e, por isso, é importante sempre usar o preservativo nas relações sexuais.
