Empresa de antivírus diz que ataque hacker já se estende por quase 100 países

A empresa tcheca de antivírus Avast, que figura entre as dez maiores do mundo no ramo, informou neste sábado (13) que o ataque hacker registrado sexta (12) em mais de 70 países já afeta 99 Estados. “Já estamos vendo 75 mil detecções do WanaCrypt0r 2.0 em 99 países”, informou no blog da Avast o especialista em informática Jakub Kroustek.

Segundo Kroustek, o ataque dos hackers está voltado, “sobretudo, contra Rússia, Ucrânia e Taiwan”, e “infectou com sucesso grandes instituições como hospitais ao longo da Inglaterra e a empresa de telecomunicações espanhola Telefónica”.

Além disso, Kroustek confirmou que a Rússia registrou 57% dessas detecções.

A Avast teve conhecimento da primeira versão do WanaCrypt0r em fevereiro e indicou que ele está disponível agora em 28 línguas diferentes, “desde o búlgaro até o vietnamita”, segundo Kroustek.

O WanaCrypt0r é um tipo de ransomware que limita ou impede aos usuários o acesso ao computador e seus arquivos e solicita um resgate para eles possam ser acessados de novo.

Este resgate é geralmente pago em uma moeda digital, frequentemente o bitcoin, o que dificulta seguir o rastro do pagamento e identificar os hackers.
