O Dia Internacional pela Eliminação da Discriminação Racial acontece nesta segunda-feira (21). A data marca o chamado massacre de Shaperville, ocorrido no dia 21 de março de 1960, na cidade de Joanesburgo, capital da África do Sul. Neste dia, 20 mil negros protestavam contra a lei do passe livre, que os obrigava a portar cartões de identificação, especificando os locais por onde eles podiam circular. Mesmo sendo uma manifestação pacífica, o exército atirou sobre a multidão, matando 69 pessoas e ferindo outras 186. Em memória à tragédia, a Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) instituiu 21 de março como o Dia Internacional de Luta pela Eliminação da Discriminação Racial. Além disso, no dia 21 de março de 1997, Zumbi dos Palmares foi incluído na galeria dos Heróis Nacionais e, em 21 de março de 2003, foi criada a Secretária Especial de Politicas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial.
E com o objetivo de marcar a data, as escolas da rede municipal de Vitória realizam oficinas de relações étnico-raciais, ministradas pela Gerência de Políticas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial da Secretaria Municipal de Cidadania e Direitos Humanos (Semcid).
A primeira unidade a receber a ação será a Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental (Emef) Ceciliano Abel de Almeida, em Itararé. Na ocasião, os alunos das turmas da Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) participarão de uma oficina alusiva à data.
Além disso, os alunos assistirão a contação de estória “Zacimba Gaba, a história de uma princesa africana do norte do Espírito Santo”, encenada pelos atores Fábio e Claudia Pererê, e apresentação de capoeira com Mestre Cabral. Em seguida, os estudantes participarão de um diálodo sobre a história contada e de uma roda de conversa sobre racismo.
A gerente de Políticas de Promoção da Igualdade Racial da Semcid, Maria Anita Falcão, destaca a importancia da iniciativa. “Escolhemos este dia para iniciar as atividades por se tratar de uma data de grande representatividade na luta contra o racismo. Desta maneira, a proposta é trabalhar a questão da discirminação racial a partir de oficinas, utilizando músicas, videos e atividades culturais”, explicou.
