Das 50 cidades mais violentas do mundo, 21 estão no Brasil, o país com o maior número de cidades violentas no mundo. É o que diz relatório da ONG mexicana Conselho Cidadão para a Segurança Pública e Justiça Penal. Em 2014, 16 cidades brasileiras faziam parte da lista mundial, cinco novas entraram na lista em dois anos. A diferença positiva é que, em 2014, o Brasil tinha três das 10 mais violentas, e agora nenhuma aparece nesta faixa. Belo Horizonte foi a única cidade nacional a deixar a lista de 2014

O ranking apontou Caracas, capital da Venezuela, como a cidade mais violenta do mundo. Fortaleza, que ficou na 12a. colocação geral, foi a líder em mortes violentas no Brasil. Vitória está na 31a. posição no ranking.

Para fazer o cálculo do ranking, a entidade usa a taxa de número de homicídios por cada 100 mil habitantes. A pesquisa avalia apenas os municípios com mais de 300 mil habitantes.

No levantamento de 2014, Maceió era a líder nacional. A capital alagoana agora é a quinta menos segura do país.

Na lista divulgada nesta segunda, Fortaleza aparece com taxa de homicídio de 60,77 –praticamente a mesma de Natal (60,66) e da Grande Salvador (60,63).

A região Nordeste, por sinal, é a que tem mais cidades no ranking – além das nove capitais, completam a lista Campina Grande (PB) e Feira de Santana e Vitória da Conquista (ambas na Bahia). Em 2014, eram nove cidades nordestinas na lista: Teresina, Feira de Santana e Vitória da Conquista não estavam.

No ranking mundial, a capital venezuelana (com taxa de 119,8 assassinatos por cada 100 mil habitantes) tomou o lugar de San Pedro Sula, em Honduras, que liderava o ranking desde 2012 e, agora, tem índice de 111,03 mortes por 100 mil pessoas.

O relatório cita que, apesar de o Brasil ser o país com mais cidades na lista, as taxas das oito cidades da Venezuela chamaram mais a atenção. “O nível de violência nas cidades de 300.000 ou mais habitantes é maior na Venezuela. No Brasil, a taxa média foi de 45,55 homicídios por 100 mil habitantes, enquanto isso na Venezuela foi 74,65”, destaca José Antonio Ortega Sánchez, presidente da ONG mexicana.

Além dos munícipios do Brasil e da Venezuela, completam a lista cinco cidades do México, quatro da África do Sul e dos Estados Unidos, três da Colômbia e duas de Honduras.
