Vírus da gripe com maior circulação em 2017 é o H3N2, aponta SBI

Ao contrário de 2016, quando o maior número de registros foi do vírus H1N1, neste ano a maior circulação tem sido do tipo H3N2, aponta a presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Imunizações (SBI), Isabella Ballalai.

A especialista explica que tanto o H1N1 como o H3N2 são tipos de influenza, portanto não existe um novo vírus em circulação no Brasil. Segundo ela, as variações são igualmente graves. “Não tem mais grave e nem menos grave. Por isso que as vacinas são tri ou quadrivalentes procurando proteger de três ou quatro tipos de influenza que circulam entre nós”, disse.

De acordo com a SBI,  no ano passado o H1N1 foi responsável por 90% dos casos registrados no Brasil, mas este ano ainda está restrito até agora a 2%. A presidente da entidade explica que o H3N2 é um vírus que já causou surtos no país em outros períodos e é o mais prevalente no hemisfério Norte. “Ele não mudou, mas é o que este ano está circulando mais. Não é porque ele esteja novo”.  Ela explica que apesar de a população popularmente buscar a vacina do H1N1, as doses sempre contêm os tipos H1N1, H3N2 e B.

Segundo Isabella, a melhor época para a imunização é justamente o outono. “O ideal seria vacinar sempre em março e abril. A gente já tem casos graves, já tem óbitos e precisa vacinar”, disse. A antecipação evita ainda a falta de vacinas, o que costuma ocorrer quando há surtos como o de 2016. “Se vai ser grave, se vai ser igual ao ano passado a gente não tem como dizer. Prevenção a gente faz independente de surto, a gente se vacina para não ter surto. É isso que o governo está fazendo”, diz. Ela lembra que a vacina demora, pelo menos, de duas a três semanas para proteger quem for imunizado.

“Se estiver em um surto a pessoa adoece apesar da vacina e gera até aquela confusão que muita gente faz de que tomou a vacina, mas mesmo assim pegou a doença. Na realidade, muitas vezes a pessoa já estava doente, se vacinou e a vacina não conseguiu protegê-la”, completou.

A mobilização em 2017 começará um pouco mais cedo em relação ao ano passado, tendo início na próxima segunda-feira (17) e se estendendo até o dia 26 de maio. No período, o Ministério da Saúde estima que 54,2 milhões de pessoas serão vacinadas em todo o país. Uma das metas é atingir 90% da população considerada de risco para complicações por gripe.

A vacina protege contra os três principais tipos de vírus que circularam em 2016 e tem duração de um ano. O ministério ressalta que as reações adversas são leves e que a única contraindicação é para pessoas alérgicas a ovo.
