combate-a-hipertensaoA hipertensão arterial é um problema comum na saúde dos brasileiros. Atualmente, segundo o Ministério da de Saúde, 24,3% da população adulta é acometida pela patologia que consiste na resistência do coração ao bater, sobrecarregando tanto o coração quanto os vasos sanguíneos. De acordo com a Sociedade Brasileira de Hipertensão, cerca de 50% dos hipertensos não sabem que têm a doença e apenas 25% aderem ao tratamento.

O cardiologista Henrique Branisso, do Hospital do Coração do Brasil, em Brasília, comenta que esse problema de saúde é crônico e os sintomas são raramente identificados. Nos poucos casos em que são detectados, são eles: dor de cabeça, mal-estar e desconforto na região do tórax. “A hipertensão não tem uma causa única e sim multifatorial. Depende da genética, da alimentação rica em sal por anos, envelhecimento, obesidade, sedentarismo e alcoolismo. A doença não surge de uma hora para outra e sim lentamente, ao longo dos anos”, comenta o doutor.

A prevalência da hipertensão é similar em ambos os sexos, mas o especialista afirma que os homens se cuidam menos devido ao estilo de vida, e, por isso, têm maior propensão para o desenvolvimento da doença. “As mulheres são mais preocupadas com a saúde, procuram aferir a pressão e buscam atendimento médico com maior frequência. Os homens são mais relaxados”, explica o médico. “A hipertensão pode atingir até 75% das pessoas com mais de 70 anos”, complementa o médico.

Dr. Henrique diz que atualmente existem muitos medicamentos que ajudam a combater a patologia. “Infelizmente apenas em raros casos a hipertensão tem cura. Atualmente, existem muitos tipos diferentes de medicamentos eficazes no tratamento. Porém, em alguns casos, apenas um remédio pode não ser suficiente para controlar a pressão havendo a necessidade de ingestão dois ou mais comprimidos diferentes. Por isso, é sempre bom ter um acompanhamento médico regular”, finaliza.

Manter o índice de massa corporal abaixo de 25;

Evitar comidas gordurosas e ricas em sal (sódio);

Beber bastante água;

Se for jovem, procurar investigar a doença o mais cedo possível;

Não fumar;

Fazer atividade física.
