Papa Francisco envia Rosa de Ouro a Santuário pelos 300 anos de Aparecida

O papa Francisco enviou ao Santuário Nacional, em Aparecida (SP), a Rosa de Ouro, honraria que representa uma particular estima por cidades, pessoas ou santuários reconhecidos como centros de grande devoção. O presente foi trazido do Vaticano pelo cardeal italiano Giovanni Battista Re, que será o representante do pontífice nas festividades dos 300 anos do encontro da imagem de Nossa Senhora Aparecida por pescadores, no Rio Paraíba do Sul.

A Rosa de Ouro foi entregue oficialmente em um missa, na Basílica de Aparecida, celebrada na noite de ontem (9). “Com grande alegria estou retornando a Aparecida. Já estive aqui por ocasião da V Conferência do Episcopado Latino Americano. O que mais me impressionou foi a grande quantidade de peregrinos que vem ao Santuário. Retorno com particular alegria, pois vou representar o papa Francisco. O santo padre que envia uma Rosa de Ouro como símbolo de seu amor a Nossa Senhora, assim como seu afeto ao povo brasileiro”, disse o cardeal italiano, que presidirá a missa solene do dia 12 de outubro, às 9h30.

A Rosa de Ouro pesa cerca de um quilo e mede aproximadamente 50 centímetros. O presente costuma ser entregue apenas uma vez por ano, com exceção deste ano, já que o papa Francisco já tinha presenteado o Santuário de Fátima com a insígnia.

Segundo a assessoria de imprensa do Santuário Nacional de Aparecida, a primeira referência a este sinal foi encontrada em um documento de 1049, emitida pelo papa Leão IX. Naquela época, a Rosa de Ouro era abençoada no quarto domingo da Quaresma mas, após o Concílio Vaticano II, em dezembro de 1961, a entrega do símbolo passou a ser mais rara.

Esta foi a terceira vez que o Santuário Nacional foi presenteado por um papa com uma Rosa de Ouro. A primeira vez foi em 1967, pelo papa Paulo VI. Em 2007, o papa Bento XVI entregou o presente pessoalmente, quando esteve no Brasil. As rosas de ouro estão expostas ao público no Museu Nossa Senhora Aparecida.
